Smart Faucets and Toilets
Touchless faucets have been around for awhile and we’ve all seen them in public restrooms, but with the increased need due to the pandemic, we now have smart faucets. Touchless faucets were designed to decrease the amount of germs on faucet handles and they’ve done just that. However, because of the pandemic, demand for these type of faucets have gone up significantly. That, along with new technology has led to the birth of smart faucets and toilets.
Smart faucets are just like smart lights that are being used in new homes, soon you’ll be able to say Hey Siri turn on the kitchen sink, and water will start flowing. This is fairly new technology and will be developed further but will be very useful when fully adopted. Similarly, smart toilets are on the rise and have all sorts of fun things to offer.
Smart toilets will do everything from lift up the cover automatically when you arrive and automatically flushing when you’re done, to cleansing, drying and heated seats. Smart toilets are the way of the future and will be a comforting change. Smart faucets and toilets can be an exciting part of a new renovation and we can’t wait to help you install one at Mr. Swirl!
Leak detectors are a fairly new device but have tons of usage situations. Leak detectors come in many different forms but essentially they do exactly what they say they do. The first one was created with sensors at either end of all piping. When water leaves a tank, the amount that leaves is recorded and when it arrives at the fixture, it is recorded again.
If the amount of water at either end is different, then there must be a leak. New detectors use wifi, Bluetooth and various sensors around your home to make sure there are no leaks and alert you as soon as it sees a discrepancy. If you do experience a leaking pipe, call Mr. Swirl immediately, we’re open 24/7 to help when leaky pipes happen.
Tankless Water Heaters
Tankless water heaters are the solution to big bulky hot water tanks that take up too much space. They work by a complex group of burners and sensors that react when a user turns on a fixture. They are great technology because they are so much smaller than a traditional gas or electric hot water tank and they are much safer.
They do have some cons such as initial price and water pressure in high usage situations, but tankless water heaters are the future. Tankless water heaters have already been heavily adopted by home and business owners. If you’re looking into tankless water heaters, Mr. Swirl has you covered. We service and install tankless water heaters all the time and you can book a job here or give us a ring at 6044354664.
Hot Water Recirculation Systems
Hot Water recirculation systems are also a very popular new product in plumbing. A hot water recirculation system takes hot water that was pumped to a fixture but is unused and recirculates it. This system is very energy efficient because of the recycling of hot water leading to less energy used. In certain areas, you can even get rebates for energy efficiency on hot water recirculation systems.
Bluetooth showers don’t necessarily have anything to do with plumbing per se but they are still a great addition to make any shower better. Bluetooth showers are often just shower-heads that contain a speaker within them! So, that means you can listen to your favourite music with great sound quality while you’re in the shower and leave your phone out on the counter without getting wet. Some Bluetooth shower heads also come with LED lighting with the speaker so that you have a spotlight to sing along under.
Outdoor Hot/Cold Water Taps
We’ve always had the option of hot or cold water in our kitchens and washrooms but why is it that we never had that outside? We always get that freezing cold hose water, well that can change. Hot and cold water taps are now available for outdoor use and Mr. Swirl can install one for you! They’re perfect for outdoor cooking and barbecuing, washing your car, gardening and to warm up in the winter or cool down in the summer. If you’re doing a renovation for this summer, one of these is a great addition!
Solar Powered Hot Water Tanks
As we see solar power being used more and more, applications in plumbing are being created including hot water tanks. Solar-powered hot water tanks are fairly new and are expensive because of it, however if you’re buying a new home that you plan to live in for a long time, they are a great investment and will save tons of money on energy. Solar-powered hot water tanks are the future and as they become more popular Mr. Swirl will install them! Our plumbers in Coquitlam love problem solving and learning new things and we’re all looking forward to solar-powered hot water tanks.
Efficient and Smart Sprinklers and Irrigation Systems
Watering our plants and flowers uses lots of water and can be hard to control. Manually moving sprinklers around and turning the water off and on at the correct time can be a hassle, but smart irrigation systems are looking at a way around that. A smart sprinkler system would have plumbing underground and sprinklers displaced where needed and connected to wifi. You could then hook up your sprinklers to your phone and control when they are on and off, their pressure and have a set schedule for when they’re operating.
These smart-systems are great for gardens but also will save a lot of water that often goes to waste with manual watering.
